San Antonio Abad (in Catalan and officially Sant Antoni de Portmany) is a Spanish parish and municipality on the island of Ibiza, in the autonomous community of the Balearic Islands, Spain. Located in the west of the island, its territory corresponds to part of what was the old district of Portmany, one of the four into which King James I divided the island in the 13th century after conquering it for the Crown of Aragon in 1235. The place name Portmany comes from the Latin portus magnus, meaning 'great port' in reference to the extensive bay of the town. During the Arab period, the name evolved to burt'uman and then, with the arrival of the conquistadors, to the current Catalan toponym Portmany. Nowadays it is one of the main urban and tourist centres on the island of Ibiza. Its main urban centre faces the sea and the bay, to the west, and is 15 km from the capital city (Ibiza town). It has a port, which allows maritime passenger traffic with the mainland.
SANT ANTONI DE PORTMANY

For two thousand years, Sant Antoni was a small fishing village that grew out of the natural Roman port of Portus Magnus, but it began to grow in the late 1950s when many hotels and resorts were built as part of a mass tourism initiative that took place throughout Spain. As the number of tourists increased, the development of bars, hotels and other tourist infrastructure spread across the other side of the bay of San Antonio, all the way to Cala de Bou, which is located in the adjacent municipality of Sant Josep de sa Talaia. Since the 1980s, British tourists have made up the majority of summer visitors to San Antonio.

One of the most beautiful beaches in Ibiza, with its gorgeous turquoise blue waters and incredible views over the numerous islets that dot Ibiza's coastline, this wonderful beach is located in the southwest of the island, just off the bay of San Antonio.
CALA BASSA
A spectacular cove.
Located in the northeast of the island, it is often awarded a blue flag due to the incredible clarity and transparent colour of the water here. This cove has a slight slope in the first few metres, which provides us with warmer waters that help even the chilly ones to get in and enjoy a nice dip.
Port de's Torrent
Port de's Torrent, as its name suggests, gives us some clues as to what we can find on this beach.
It is formed by a natural harbour in a bay very protected from the waves, into which a torrent flows. It is ideal for a relaxing swim in its crystalline waters and at the same time enjoy the variety of fish that can be found in the area while snorkelling. It is located in the northwest of the island.
